Crowns, Inlays, and Onlays

Renewing Dental Integrity with Custom Crowns, Inlays, and Onlays

Cracked, broken, or severely worn teeth can cause embarrassment and discomfort, robbing you of your precious smile. At our Houston dental office, Dr. Hedge and Dr. Frazar restore structural integrity to damaged dentition with custom crowns, inlays, and onlays.

A crown is a custom restoration that completely covers a compromised tooth to strengthen and protect it. We use all-ceramic, porcelain-fused-to-metal, and gold crowns. Your dentist will consider the location of your tooth and the stress it incurs to determine which material to use. Porcelain crowns look and feel like natural teeth, so no one will notice your dental work, just your beautiful smile.

Following your consultation and exam, Dr. Hedge or Dr. Frazar will prepare your tooth for restoration, take a dental impression, and fit you with a temporary. A ceramist at our trusted lab will hand make your crown out of fine dental porcelain. When your restoration is completed, the dentist will remove your temporary and permanently affix your crown, renewing your smile and your confidence.

If you qualify, we will use our state-of-the-art CEREC machine to create your restoration. This technology uses a 3D image of your tooth to mill a custom, porcelain crown in our office, allowing the dentist to design, produce, and affix your dental work in just one visit. Visit our CEREC page for more information about how you can benefit from this revolutionary technology.

Dr. Hedge or Dr. Frazar may suggest an inlay or onlay when a compromised tooth doesn’t require a full crown but needs more restoration than a filling can provide. An inlay fits between the cusps, or bumps, of a tooth. An onlay fits over one or more bumps. Like crowns, inlays and onlays are custom restorations to restore form and function to damaged dentition. CEREC can produce inlays and onlays, as well as crowns.

We provide customized care for long-lasting crowns, inlays, and onlays. Call our Houston dental office today to schedule your appointment with Dr. Hedge or Dr. Frazar.
